AbstractSynthetic methods for carbon‐11 chemistry are highlighted with particular importance put on the activation of [11C]CO2. Methods focus on practical, alternative routes to key intermediates for synthesis of radiotracers without the reliance on [11C]phosgene. Recent advances display practical syntheses with efficient total synthesis times and high molar activity in final products. Advances include the use of carbonyl transfer agents, transition‐metal catalysts, and functional groups in starting materials.
