Abstract Fluorination of tris(2,6‐dimethoxyphenyl)‐methylium ((DMP) 3 C + ) was achieved through the partial defluorination of the methyl 2,3,5,6‐tetrafluorobenzoate via nucleophilic aromatic substitution.
