Abstract The Annual Meeting of the Society of Academic and Research Surgeons was held at the Royal Free Hospital, London on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th January 2010 under the Presidency of Professor Norman Williams. The Patey Prize was awarded to Mr Stephen McNally from the MRC Centre for Inflammation Research, University of Edinburgh and University Department of Surgery, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, for his presentation entitled HEME ARGINATE AMELIORATES HEPATIC ISCHAEMIA REPERFUSION INJURY THROUGH MODIFICATION OF MACROPHAGE PHENOTYPE.
