AbstractIsotope cisternograms were performed on 107 patients over a period of six years, using three radiopharmaceuticals: 131I‐RIHSA, 111In‐DTPA, and 169Yb‐DTPA. Untoward reactions, usually symptomatic aseptic meningitis, developed in 18 patients. Reactions were most frequent with 111In‐DTPA and least common when 169Yb‐DTPA was employed. Despite extensive testing for pyrogens and bacterial contaminants, the cause of these reactions could not be determined.
