AbstractThe vertebrate immune system can recognize specific pathogen‐associated molecular patterns in invading microorganisms, including the unmethylated CpG dinucleotide. This unit discusses the receptors that recognize CpG motifs and important aspects of the sequence context of CpG motifs to the end of understanding and designing CpG DNA for therapeutic purposes.
